Business Development Support Project

WACA was approached by an Indian foundry and machine shop seeking to expand into the North American market. Leveraging its extensive industry experience, WACA conducted a comprehensive assessment of the client's manufacturing capabilities and target markets. The client was focused on high-volume, low-variant production jobs. WACA identified several potential customers in the oil & gas, general industry, and power transmission sectors. WACA traveled with the client to meet these prospects, presenting the client’s capabilities and WACA’s added value. As a result, WACA secured a project in the oil & gas sector for 20,000 pieces annually. WACA developed the necessary parts, obtained client approval for samples, and initiated regular supply with stocking.

Supply Chain Development Support Project

After COVID, WACA was approached and partnered with a sports company based in Georgia that had a unique, patented product design. The client had previously attempted local production but faced challenges with productivity and costs. When they approached WACA with their requirements, our primary goal was to protect the integrity of their patented design. We developed a comprehensive supply chain strategy to ensure the product was manufactured by the right suppliers under robust agreements, with assembly taking place in the U.S. to mitigate risks related to geopolitical factors, we offered multiple options, including a dual supply chain. Additionally, WACA provided warehousing with order-based dispatch options.

Sourcing Cost Reduction/Warehousing/Order Fulfillment Support Project

This is a prime example of a successfully project delivering high-volume, cost-sensitive components in the Oil & Gas industry. We collaborated closely with a customer on several parts that required strict specifications for mechanical and chemical properties, including special heat treatments. After assessing various manufacturing options such as investment casting, forging, and bars, we identified a cost-effective solution and developed a system tailored to the customer's unique requirements. For the past three years, we have consistently supplied these parts without any issues, and we also stock them at our Dayton warehouse to ensure shorter lead times and zero inventory for the customer.

Product/Parts Development Sourcing Support Project

WACA collaborated with an Oil & Gas customer that has a patented oil well product, consisting of critical components with high variability and low volume. Upon receiving the RFQ, WACA carefully analyzed the drawings and identified several important dimensions that needed to be addressed. WACA obtained a master sample from the customer and conducted a comprehensive comparison between the master and the drawings, which revealed several missing or outdated dimensions.

After successfully convincing the customer to implement these changes, WACA updated all the prints. WACA then developed fixtures, gauges, and tools according to the new specifications and created samples. Once the samples was received and approval, WACA established a robust control plan for production and began delivering regularly. The customer has been very satisfied with the initial samples and subsequent batches, and WACA is now supplying the customer consistently without any disruptions.

Warehousing Support Project

Introduction

This case study outlines a successful project where WACA Global facilitated the import of

Chinese products into the United States through the Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) in Laredo, Texas.

By leveraging the benefits of an FTZ, we were able to streamline the import process, reduce

costs, and enhance our client's competitiveness in the U.S. and Mexican market.

Project Overview

WACA Global was tasked with connecting a Chinese company with suitable logistics providers to import their products into the Laredo FTZ. The goal was to optimize the supply chain, minimize customs duties, and ensure efficient distribution within the United States and Mexico.

RFP Process and Selection

To identify the most suitable logistics providers, we issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to five companies. The RFP outlined the specific requirements of the project, including:

● Import and Export Services: The ability to handle customs clearance, documentation, and transportation between China and the Laredo FTZ.

● Warehousing and Distribution: The capacity to store products within the FTZ and facilitate timely distribution to U.S. customers.

● FTZ Expertise: A deep understanding of FTZ regulations and procedures.

After careful evaluation of the proposals, we selected [Warehouse X] based on their comprehensive services, competitive pricing, and strong track record in FTZ operations.

Project Implementation

The project involved several key steps:

1. Customs Clearance: [Warehouse X] handled all customs formalities, ensuring compliance with U.S. import regulations and minimizing delays.

2. Transportation: Products were efficiently transported from China to the Laredo FTZ using a combination of ocean and land freight.

3. Warehousing: [Warehouse X] provided secure warehousing facilities within the FTZ, allowing for storage and inventory management.

4. Distribution: Products were distributed to U.S. and Mexican customers from the FTZ, leveraging its strategic location and transportation infrastructure.

Results and Benefits

By successfully implementing this project, we achieved the following results:

● Reduced Customs Duties: The FTZ allowed for deferred payment of customs duties, providing significant cost savings for the Chinese company.

● Improved Supply Chain Efficiency: The streamlined logistics process and strategic location of the Laredo FTZ enabled faster and more reliable product delivery to U.S. markets.

● Enhanced Competitiveness: The reduced costs and improved efficiency associated with the FTZ helped the Chinese company gain a competitive edge in the U.S. market.

Conclusion

This project highlights WACA Global expertise and capabilities in facilitating international trade and leveraging the benefits of FTZs. By partnering with the right logistics provider, we successfully enabled the import of Chinese products into the United States, providing significant value to our client.
